Les blessés Gaule est une œuvre d'art ancienne représentant un guerrier blessé, que certains pensaient d'abord à un gladiateur.

La sculpture originale en marbre est une copie romaine de la statue en bronze, commandée en 220 avant JC par Attale Ier de Pergame, pour honorer sa victoire sur les Galates.

Elle a été redécouverte au XVIe siècle, lors de fouilles à la Villa Ludovisi, et restaurée par Michel-Ange. Elle a été enregistrée pour la première fois en 1623 dans la collection de la puissante famille Ludovisi de Rome .

En 1797, l'original fut pillé et emmené à Paris par Napoléon, il fut restitué à Rome en 1815, et est maintenant exposé dans le Capitole Musée dans Rome .

La sculpture originale de Dying Gaul a été copiée tout au long des XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles et d'excellentes versions en marbre sont exposées à Versailles, Paris, à la maison Rousham, dans l'Oxfordshire et à la maison Walton dans le Wiltshire.

The better version - like the original

The copy is perfect with a great marble finish. The most people don't know the found original figure was a marble sculpture. But today you only can buy bronze copies from the Grand Tour in the beginning of the last century. The marble version you only find in museum, but she is better and to get here.

Wounded Gaul

I have always admired this statue. Being able to get such a great rendering of it is great. Amazing finish, amazing price. The only thing marring the whole experience was the delivery. I lost 2 days earnings instead of one, costing me more than the cost for the statue, but the item itself is great.
