This Roman marble bust is from a full marble statue, said to be the work of Leochares, which was found on one of the Della Rovere properties in the 16th century and was then brought to Rome by Julius II, and is still housed in the great collection of the Vatican, Italy.
This marble sculpture has been finished as the original was found with all the signs of hundreds of years of antiquity, once buried in rubble, found, cleaned, polished and made ready for display.
