The Epitome of Classical Beauty
The Apollo Belvedere is one of the most celebrated sculptures from antiquity, representing the pinnacle of classical ideals of male beauty, grace, and divine perfection. This stunning bust, finished in bronze and Carrara white marble, captures the god of light, music, poetry, and prophecy in all his timeless glory.
A Vatican Treasure
This Roman bust is taken from the full marble statue, said to be the work of the renowned Greek sculptor Leochares. Discovered on one of the Della Rovere properties in the 16th century, it was brought to the Vatican by Pope Julius II and has remained one of the greatest treasures of the Pio Clementine Museum in Vatican City ever since.
The God of Light and the Arts
Apollo, one of the most important and complex deities in Greek and Roman mythology, was the god of light, music, poetry, prophecy, healing, and the sun. The Apollo Belvedere depicts him in a moment of divine grace—embodying the classical ideal of beauty, harmony, and proportion that has influenced Western art for centuries.
Bronze and Carrara Marble Elegance
This marble bust features a bronze layered surface, creating a sophisticated interplay between the warm tones of bronze and the luminous white of Carrara marble. The combination of finishes adds depth and visual interest while honouring the classical tradition of mixed-media sculpture.
Perfect Pairing with Diana
This bust makes a magnificent pair when twinned with our bust of Diana, also finished in bronze and marble. Together, Apollo and his twin sister Diana (Artemis) represent the sun and moon, light and hunt, creating a harmonious classical pairing for collectors and enthusiasts of classical mythology.
