Hahnel worked in Dresden, in the renowned china company as well as making privately commissioned work. 

He was renowned for his idiosyncratic technique which allowed for super-realistic reproduction of animal’s fur and feathers in sculpture.

His finest animal works were reproduced in fine bronze and much sort after by collectors today.
