THE VEILED LADY, a marble bust, after the antique sculpture, by Monti, 1875.
Finished in antique gold, and set upon a black and white granite socle.
This world famous sculpture, also known as the bride, was created by the Italian sculptor Raphaelle Monti, who came to live and work in England
He established his name with the Veiled Lady sculpture, which was purchased by the Duke of Devonshire, and is part of the great Chatsworth house collection.
In 1875 the Duke gave Copeland permission to reproduce this subject in Parian ware, and Copeland commissioned Monti to make this bust for them.
Sculptured Arts have now re-created this model for Chatsworth House.
